Celebrating Black History Month - Brittany

February is Black History Month and we are so thrilled to be celebrating our African American team members, growers, organizations and community here at Hamama. Black History Month began as a way of remembering important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. Black History is a time of rejoicing, honoring and celebrating African-Americans. Please join us.

Today we want to share a little about our Hamama Happiness team member Brittany.

Brittany loves interacting with our growers. Her enthusiasm and positivity is absolutely contagious! She is always on the hunt to find new ways to make the Hamama growing experience the best it can be for everyone! If you have had the pleasure of chatting with Brittany, you know how genuine, kind-hearted and truly caring she is. She makes everyone feel at ease and well-taken care of. We are so lucky & grateful to have her on our team!

What does Black History Month mean to Brittany?

"Black History Month is learning and relearning the truth about the black experience in America. Once you gain the knowledge, you then have the opportunity to make sure that our future looks better than our past. Black History Month is learning and appreciating James Baldwin, Audre Lorde, Malcom X, Angela Davis and Marsha P. Johnson while in the present standing with the Black Lives Matter Movement, Black Trans Lives Matter, Prison Reform, Voter Suppression and etc. For Black History Month to be celebrated you must celebrate and fight alongside us all year."

Who is a Black creator that Brittany thinks everyone should know, read, watch, or listen to?

"Sonya Renee Taylor is a WONDERFUL writer that talks about tearing down white supremacy and radical self love. Read her book, "The Body is Not an Apology" and follow her on Instagram @sonyareneetaylor. Also check out Brittany Packnett Cunningham. She is an activist, educator and writer. Follow her on Instagram @mspackyetti."
