Meet Your Microgreens

Are you curious about the flavors of each of our microgreens? Not sure what to try first? We got you covered! In this post, we share what to expect from each Seed Quilt & our recommended ways to care for and use each one!

We have microgreen broccoli, red cabbage, kale, fenugreek, wheatgrass, clover, wasabi mustard, daikon radish, super salad mix & zesty mix. All of our seeds are Non-GMO and the following are organic too: Broccoli, Kale, Fenugreek, Clover, Wheatgrass, Daikon Radish, & Wasabi Mustard.

Microgreens tend to have more concentrated flavors, tender textures, vibrant color, and densely-packed nutrients than their mature counterparts.¹ They are generally rich in sources of vitamin C, E, and beta-carotene, and are low in oxalates (anti-nutrients).¹²

Hearty Broccoli (Organic)

Mild, fresh, & slightly bitter. Tastes similar to mature broccoli but is a bit milder. These microgreens make a great addition or garnish to any dish because they complement most flavors without overpowering them.

Refreshing Cabbage

Mild, earthy, & refreshing. These microgreens can be added to salads, sandwiches, & smoothies. Their bright purple color makes for really beautiful garnishes! These show-stopper microgreens elevate the look of any dish without altering the flavor much.

Spicy Daikon Radish (Organic)

Strong, peppery & spicy, much like it’s mature counterpart. These microgreens are perfect for adding spice to any meal! Great with Latin and Asian cuisines and in salads, sandwiches, & tacos!

Super Salad Mix

Lovely mix of sweet, mild, and subtly peppery (arugula) greens. Our Super Salad Mix includes broccoli, kale, arugula, kohlrabi, cauliflower, and cabbage. Garnish any meals for a harmonious combination of colors & flavors. These microgreens are awesome on their own for snacking too!

Sweet Wheatgrass (Organic)

Mild, sweet, & "grassy." Wheatgrass is truly a grass and therefore is quite fibrous. Thus, it is best for juicing, blending in smoothies, or drying into a powder. You can also share your wheatgrass with your cat if you are feeling generous!

Zesty Mix

Our Zesty Mix includes broccoli, kale, arugula, kohlrabi, mustard, and cabbage. It is a bolder mix of sweet, peppery, & mildly spicy greens. Garnish any meals for some zest! These microgreens are super tasty on their own for snacking too!

Energizing Kale (Organic)

Similar flavor as adult kale (or spinach), but slightly milder & sweeter with a slightly nutty aftertaste. These microgreens are perfect for adding to a salad, sandwich, smoothie, or for garnishing nearly any dish. You can even make micro kale chips!!

Earthy Clover (Organic)

Mild earthy, nutty, cool & juicy. Clover microgreens are very similar in taste & texture to alfalfa! They are especially tasty as a sandwich or soup topper and in wraps & salads.

Hot Wasabi Mustard (Organic)

Bold, spicy, horseradish/wasabi flavor. Starts off mild like kale and ends with a kick (don’t worry, it doesn’t linger). The spiciness stimulates the nose more than the tongue. These microgreens are especially great in Asian & Southern cuisines but can be added to anything for a spicy kick!

Energizing Kale (Organic)

Visually a little different than other microgreens. They have bigger stems and leaves & are slightly yellow in color. Hulls of seeds remain intact while growing and provide a slight crunch unless removed. These microgreens can be used fresh or dried & are typically used in Indian dishes.

Microgreens FAQ

Microgreens and micro herbs are the seedling versions of leafy greens, vegetables, and herbs. They are a few days older than "sprouts". Microgreens are considered a superfood and are a great source of nutrition. They only take a week to grow so you can plant and harvest every week with Hamama's microgreen kits.

Microgreens or micro herbs are the most common names for the seedling versions of leafy greens, vegetables, and herbs. Those are the most common names, but sometimes they are called mini greens, micro vegetables, or even micro leaves and micro plants. Microgreens are younger than baby greens so the name refers to the even smaller leaves that are grown by day 7-10 on the seedling.

The best thing about growing microgreens indoors is that you don't have to worry about bad weather or pests. Even if you live somewhere with hot summers or cold winters, you can still have fresh microgreens whenever you want.

There are several microgreens typically considered the most popular. We offer a lot of them, so check out the variety of flavors above! Some other popular microgreens we’re working on include arugula microgreens and sunflower microgreens! In the meantime, check out the great array of widely loved Seed Quilt flavors including Super Salad Mix, Spicy Daikon Radish, and more.

Cabbage: Mild, earthy, & refreshing. These microgreens can be added to salads, sandwiches, & smoothies. They make really beautiful garnishes as well! These show-stopper microgreens elevate the look of any dish without altering the flavor much.

Radish: Strong, peppery & spicy, much like it’s mature counterpart. These microgreens are perfect for adding spice to any meal! Great with Latin and Asian cuisines and in salads, sandwiches, & tacos!

Mustard: Bold, spicy, horseradish/ wasabi flavor. Starts off mild like kale and ends with a kick [don’t worry, it doesn’t linger]. The spiciness stimulates the nose more than the tongue. These microgreens are especially great in Asian & Southern cuisines but can be added to anything for a spicy kick! You can eat them straight up to clear your sinuses too.

Fenugreek: Uniquely aromatic, bitter, spicy & nutty. They smell like maple syrup! These microgreens can be used fresh or dried & are typically used in Indian dishes. A pinch of dried fenugreek leaves in a curry or dal will add a perfect fragrant touch - try replacing that with fresh fenugreek microgreens or adding them on top as a final garnish!

Technically, the Hamama kit is hydroponic. This just means that it only needs water for growing microgreens. Our kit replaces the soil with natural coconut fiber to give the roots something to grow into. They taste delicious, are also good for you, and you don't have to clean any dirt off before eating.
