Meet our Microgreens

Are you curious about what microgreens taste like? Not sure what to try first? We've got you covered! Below, you will discover what to expect from each Seed Quilt & our recommended ways to care for and use each one!

We offer more than 10 exciting classic microgreen varieties, including specialty limited edition varieties throughout the year based on seasonality. All of our seeds are Non-GMO and most are organic.

Microgreens tend to have more concentrated flavors, tender textures, vibrant color, and densely-packed nutrients than their mature counterparts.¹ They are generally rich in sources of vitamin C, E, and beta-carotene, and are low in oxalates (anti-nutrients).¹²

Hearty Broccoli

Mild, fresh, & slightly bitter. Tastes similar to mature broccoli but is a bit milder. These microgreens make a great addition or garnish to any dish because they complement most flavors without overpowering them. Learn more.

Cruciferous Cabbage

Mild, earthy, & refreshing. These microgreens can be added to salads, sandwiches, & smoothies. Their bright purple color makes for really beautiful garnishes! These show-stopper microgreens elevate the look of any dish without altering the flavor much. Learn more.

Spicy Daikon Radish

These microgreens are especially great in Asian & Southern cuisines but can be added to anything for a spicy kick! Learn more.

Fragrant Fenugreek

Visually a little different than other microgreens. They have bigger stems and leaves & are slightly yellow in color. Frequently Asked Questions

If your question isn’t answered below, feel free to reach out!

Q: What are microgreens?

Microgreens and micro herbs are the seedling versions of leafy greens, vegetables, and herbs. They are a few days older than "sprouts". Microgreens are considered a superfood and are a great source of nutrition. They only take a week to grow so you can plant and harvest every week with Hamama's microgreen kits.

Q: Why are they called microgreens?

Microgreens or micro herbs are the most common names for the seedling versions of leafy greens, vegetables, and herbs. Those are the most common names, but sometimes they are called mini greens, micro vegetables, or even micro leaves and micro plants. Microgreens are younger than baby greens so the name refers to the even smaller leaves that are grown by day 7-10 on the seedling.

Q: Can I grow my microgreen kit outside?

The best thing about growing Hamama microgreens indoors is that you don't have to worry about bad weather or pests. Even if you live somewhere with hot summers or cold winters, you can still have fresh microgreens whenever you want.

Q: What are the best microgreens to grow?

There are several microgreens typically considered the most popular. We offer a lot of them, so check out the variety of flavors above! Some other popular microgreens we’re working on include arugula microgreens and sunflower microgreens! In the meantime, check out the great array of widely loved Seed Quilt flavors including Super Salad Mix, Spicy Daikon Radish, and more.

Q: If I am growing microgreens without soil, then how do they grow?

Technically, the Hamama kit is hydroponic. This just means that it only needs water for growing microgreens. Our kit replaces the soil with natural coconut fiber to give the roots something to grow into. They taste delicious, are also good for you, and you don't have to clean any dirt off before eating.

Q: Do you know any good microgreen recipes?

Yes we do! If you go to our Recipes Blog, you can find a variety of microgreen recipes as well as other interesting articles about microgreens.

Q: Where do you get your microgreen seeds?

We get our microgreen seeds from a US supplier. All seeds are Non-GMO.

Q: I’m a notorious plant killer. Are you sure I can do this?

Yes!!! We've converted thousands of plant killers into plant lovers. Because you don't have to remember to water, there's nothing to mess up.

Q: My place doesn’t have much natural light. Will it still work for me?

Totally! Microgreens don't need much light. Just put your kit near a window or in a room with regular ceiling lighting.

Q: Do the plants regrow after I harvest?

No, you're eating up the plant, so there's nothing left to grow! Compost the used Seed Quilt in your green bin and plant a new one.

Q: Are the seeds organic?

All seeds are non-GMO, and most options are organic.

Q: What is the Seed Quilt made of?

Our Seed Quilts are made of materials designed for food and agricultural use. All materials are compostable in your green food and yard waste bin. Materials include coconut fiber, felt, soy wax paper, and seeds.

Q: What is the grow tray made of?

Our grow tray is recyclable and made from #5 food safe BPA free polypropylene. We also offer a Ceramic tray.
